Our creative lead, Rohan, has been fascinated by wood since childhood. In his dreams, he saw himself with superpowers that could shape wood with just a swish of his hands!
As an adult, he found his partner, Rashmi, equally enthused by his fascination with wood and creation. Rohan brought home some handheld machines and experimented with wood resulting in many failures alongside some gorgeous, thoughtful gifts for friends and family over the years. One day in 2019, watching a DIY process video on his phone got inconvenient due to difficulties in holding it steady. Rohan thereupon crafted a simple mobile stand with the piece of wood at hand. It looked like a gentle elephant- like an 'Elle'!
Elle travelled with Rohan to work and sat on his desk casually, holding up his phone. Soon one of Rohan's colleagues wanted to take Elle to her friends too! One of these friends, Raina, an interior designer loved the design and wanted to meet the creator. Once they met, it was clear that Elle wanted to travel far and wide. This culminated in the launch of 'Elle', the first official product under the brand name- 'The Elephant Connection' (TEC), on June 20, 2020.
